The artist has donated the full amount of his twenty-five thousand pound honor prize money to the Music Venues Trust, which functions to protect the United Kingdom's grassroots concert spaces.

Fender was presented with the award on October 16 as his third album his work was declared the top album of the previous year.

The musician has decided to give the cash to the trust, in recognition of the crucial part grassroots venues played in his early career.

"I personally would not have achieved my current career if it weren't for all the gigs I played around the area, and further afield, when I was starting out," remarked the artist. "These spaces are renowned, but they are in difficulty."

Beginning in 2023, over 150 of these venues have permanently closed – roughly one-sixth of the whole industry in the UK.

Over the past year, top acts such as Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Sheeran have all backed the Music Venues Trust in its initiatives to help venues survive, by including a small levy to their ticket costs, which goes to help smaller concert halls.

He also took part, raising in excess of £100,000 on his live tour to assist numerous small stages across the UK.

The donation supported spaces that were dealing with possible closure due to issues stemming from water damage, blazes and family tragedies, as well as licensing issues, conflicts and noise complaints.

Additional spaces were granted funding support in upgrading amenities and sound and lighting systems that helped performers and concertgoers.

"The notion that revenue from shows in large arenas supports the local stages, where it all starts for performers like me, is just common sense," the star has said.

Fender is far from the only musician to donate his honor winnings to charitable organizations.

In the band received the trophy in 1996 for their album their work, frontman the singer announced that the group would contribute their cash to the organization the charity.

In 2002, artist she split her prize across multiple charities, such as the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell charity.

"Additionally, I contributed a thousand pounds to the center, to their gymnastics class, because I did gymnastics when I was growing up and they required new equipment," she explained to outlets.

Previously, Ezra Collective donated their funds to the youth organization that nurtured their act, in addition to other local music groups.

And the 1994 recipients M People donated their award to a MS organization after a close contact was found to have the condition.

"Receiving the award was sufficient," said vocalist the singer. "The prize was the extra but we could do without the extra, because we had the cake. So our success affected the lives of others."

Recently, the MVT announced it had rescued a couple of grassroots venues in the South East, by transferring them to local control.

One venue in Southampton and the second in the city were purchased under the Own Our Venues initiative, which is funded by the arts council and supporters who acquire "ownership units" in the buildings.
